Carter
Kevin Carter
is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, with a BA in theatre
from San Francisco State University. He started composing in the
80’s with his a cappella group, The Flips, who opened for
The Righteous Brothers, Maria Muldaur, Chris Isaak and others. They
released the album "What's In The Bright Pink Box" on
Flying Fish Records and he got his first royalty check for airplay
of his song "Spy (for the Moral Majority)".

Moving to NYC in 1991, Kevin pursued his
acting career working in numerous regional theatres and tours around
the country. He met the director and conceiver of THAT’S ANDY,
Robert Jay Cronin, while performing at North Shore Music Theatre
in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Kevin also worked as a musical director
at various high schools, regional theatres and theatre schools (highpoint:
musical directing JoAnne Worley in Into The Woods!)
In 2000,
he was accepted into the prestigious BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre
Workshop, where he honed his craft. Other works: Gemini (music/lyrics,
book by Albert Innaurato and Carter, directed by Robert Jay Cronin)
- Ergo Theatre Company; The Awful Fate Of Melpomenus Jones (music-Carter/lyrics-Kim
Lindsay, book: Carter/Lindsay). He is represented by the Harden
Curtis agency. He is also currently shopping around his first novel
"What The Hustler Saw: a jonathan and nik boy's adventure tale"
- a ‘gay Hardy Boys-style mystery for the new millenium set
in 1984 San Francisco. |
