PLAYS & COMMISSIONS include: 4 Edges produced by Amphibian Productions in Fort Worth, Texas last summer; Flow commissioned by the Ensemble Studio Theatre (E.S.T)/Sloan Project presented at the Science on Stage Reading Series by the Magic Theatre in October of 2003 and most recently workshopped with MCC Theater; Warrior, written for puppet theatre company Drama of Works, on tour last spring on the east coast, then overseas at the International Puppetry Festivals in Finland, Istanbul and Prague; The Ballad of Phineas P. Gage, also commissioned by the E.S.T./Sloan Project, recipient of a grant from the Jim Henson Foundation, developed at Arts at St. Ann’s, produced at HERE in 2002; Depth of Sight, produced at HERE in 2003; In the Wild produced at Perishable Theatre in 2000; and Tooth produced at E.S.T in 2000.

MUSICALS: That’s Andy (book & lyrics) developed by Ergo Theatre in NYC and at Northern Stage in Vermont with a workshop production last summer; Nevermore (lyrics) currently being developed with director Robert Jay Cronin; 72 Devils (lyrics/book) performed at The Knitting Factory; and Perfectomundo (lyrics/book) at E.S.T.

FILM: Seven Variations on the Same Lover, and an adaptation of her play Tooth, both currently in development with independent film company Weird Sisters.

PUBLICATIONS: Tooth in “Poems & Plays” 2001 issue and Replacing the Image in “Poems & Plays” 2004 issue; several monologues can be found in the collection “Hot Blooded”.

Crystal was featured in the February 2004 issue of AMERICAN THEATRE in a roundtable discussion, as a playwright who also writes plays for puppet theatre. Her play Warrior was awarded the 2004 award for Best Adaptation at the Prague International Puppetry Festival. She is also the winner of Perishable Theatre’s 2001 Women’s Playwriting Festival and was awarded Honorable Mention at the 2004 Bay Area Playwrights Festival. She has been a finalist for the Rosenthal Prize, Louisville’s Heideman Award, the Princess Grace Fellowship and for this year’s Jerome Fellowship. She is a member of the MCC Theater Playwrights’ Coalition, E.S.T, the Dramatists Guild as well as a former member of Youngblood and the Soho Rep Theatre Writer/Director Lab.

Most recently, Crystal was chosen to be a part of the Royal Court Theatre workshop at New Dramatists this past fall and asked to write a new play for Les Freres Corbusier earlier this year, which was performed at Partial Comfort Productions’ Battle of the Bards 2005. She is currently writing her new drama THE VIGIL OR THE GUIDED CRADLE in the 24/7 Theatre Lab.
